Snapp Conner PR Named Top PR Agency By Business Connect

– 2008 Readers’ Choice Awards Name the Agency Top PR Firm–

SALT LAKE CITY—June 30, 2008—After just a year and a quarter of business, Utah’s most progressive PR agency, Snapp Conner PR, has won top honors from Business Connect Magazine. Snapp Conner PR has been named Utah’s top PR agency in the magazine’s 2008 Readers’ Choice awards.

“We are especially honored to be given this award above all others because it’s the direct result of votes from members of the local business community we serve,” said Cheryl Snapp Conner, founder and Managing Partner of Snapp Conner PR. “We look forward to pioneering many more programs to address the new and evolving means of communication, and we plan to continue our expansion in Utah for many more years to come.”

Together with partners Jeremy Kartchner and Clayton Blackham, Snapp Conner leads a team of 12 specialized PR professionals, with plans to grow the agency to 20-24 members within the next 1-2 years. The agency is planning a move to expanded headquarters later this year.

“With the help of Snapp Conner PR, we were able to launch the REDFLY Mobile Companion through a viral PR campaign that exceeded our expectations,” said Kirt Bailey, president and CEO of Celio Corp. “They were the natural choice for our product and company launch.”

“Snapp Conner PR doesn’t waste my time. They don’t pull any punches, and they’ve opened doors for us we wouldn’t have been able to get through on our own,” said R. Dean Taylor, VP Marketing and Channel for COMPLETExRM. “Most importantly, all of their PR recommendations are tied to ROI for our business. Most PR firms don’t bring that kind of resources—too often they’re more focused on just churning news.”

Cheryl Snapp Conner is a Utah Technology Council (UTC) Trustee and has headed the UTC’s Communications Council with her team for five years.

The Bet

Posted June 17, 2008 by Clayton Blackham. Posted in: Blog Posts

Yeah, this is me wearing a Josh Grobin t-shirt. I’m not a fan, but I lost out on a bet with a client. I was going to use this photo to mock myself, but figured that there is a PR lesson in this. You see, I competed with a client in a triathlon six weeks ago and we decided to make it fun and the loser would have to wear the shirt. The fact of the matter is I made a bet I knew I had no business making and wasn’t ready for.

The PR lesson on this is simple: Unless you are 100 percent sure you can deliver on something, wait until you are ready.

Sounds simple, but the truth is, this happens and the repercussions can be devastating. Take Qtrax for example, who jumped the gun on their launch. They announced a new digital music service claiming more than 25 million free legal song downloads. Their problem was that the contracts with the music labels weren’t signed, and when the labels were asked about the announcement, they claimed they were only in talks with Qtrax.

In National Treasure 2, Jon Voight’s character says, after his son says maybe they can stop a man from exposing their grandfather as an American conspirator, that it is too late, it’s on the Internet.
Qtrax is living that nightmare because the proof of their botched launch will live on the Internet forever or at least until the Mayan calendar ends — and so will this picture.
